NEC Toy Fair September 22nd Event
For those of you who didn’t make it to the NEC Toy Fair on the 22nd you missed a great event. I had some great new toys on show including a number of new Schuco toys and of course the usual collection of curios.
I also took a collection of signs which doesn’t normally fit in with the toys I bring but always get interest.
The show had a slow start, there didn’t seam to be the volume of dealers about that attended earlier in the year, but when the public started to come it, the show filled up very quickly.
The crowd pleasers were “The Piggy Barbecue” and “Lunar Landing Module” and brought a lot of interest as did my favourite and probably the star of the show the “Am Pol” , the 1908 tin toy which was produced to commemorate Perry reaching the north pole. The toy was originally was originally designed as and called the New Century Cycle, but was re-crafted to commemorate Perry’s landmark event in April of 1909. A boxed version of the toy sold in the US for over $6,000. Later in the show it was actually sold, so it feltlike saying goodbye to a familiar friend.
Well I’ve attached a couple of pictures of the stand and some of the toys and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
I hope to see you at the Birmingham Motorcycle Museum on the 27th of October, I’ll definitely be there.
See you soon,
Annie
