This lovely Lenci googly-eyed Mascotte is full of charm. Her pouty, surprised expression is just adorable.
She wears Italian peasant dress which includes: light blue felt skirt in a quilt stitch pattern with royal blue trim, orange felt blouse, silk apron tied with a striped ribbon, and a lovely black and yellow felt shawl adorned with felt flowers and butterflies. She comes with a petite bouquet of arranged dried flowers tucked under her arm – unsure if these are original to the doll – and she is wearing blue felt sandals with yellow stitching. Her undergarments are complete and consist of muslin socks and linen or cotton underpants.
Her hand-painted facial features are stunning – no loss of colour or detail, especially her thick, dark eyelashes. Her long wavy hair is coiffed back in an elaborate style with numerous hair pins. Even her immaculately braided and coiled blonde hair is perfect. She’s pretty flawless.
Made in Italy in the 1930s, she meaures 8.5 inches tall ( 21.5 cm) and is the perfect cabinet-sized collectable doll. Lenci dolls have been a long favourite with doll collectors, and this little googly is no exception – over 80 years old and the quality of Lenci just shines through. Gorgeous!
Condition:
This lovely little Lenci is in very good to excellent condition. She has some soiling on her dress and her apron has faded (you can see this when the folds in the apron are pulled apart. Some hairs are straying – she may have originally had a partial head scarf. Apart from these minor imperfections, she is in fabulous shape.
